Show HOPE Golf Raises over $30,000 in 100 Holes of HOPE

Show HOPE Golf hosted 100 Holes of HOPE on Monday, October 5, 2009 to raise money for Show HOPE.  100 Holes of HOPE was a new concept that Show HOPE Golf attempted this year in an effort to maximize fundraising potential.  Teaming up with Marathon Event Marketing, SHG launched the 100 Holes of HOPE campaign just before Labor Day weekend and raised over $30,000 by game day.

"We were looking for a way to increase our bottom line performance in a very difficult economy," stated Ben Houk, SHG Committee Chair.  "The guys at Marathon Event Marketing showed us how we could raise more money with fewer resources and expenses - all while continuing to raise awareness for the cause of orphan care.  We had amazing support from Val & J.R. They really made the event the success that it was."

Of course a solid plan is only the first step in a trail of success.  Eighteen men dedicated 30 days of their life to asking friends, family, and coworkers to be sponsors for 100 holes of golf.  Using email, phone, Twitter, Facebook, and other social media, the guys pushed hard to reach goals set along the way by Marathon Event Marketing.  In the end, the top sponsor earner was Steve Burzynski who raised &7,009 for Show HOPE.

"It was a real team effort," exclaimed Burzynski after the event.  "Everyone pitched in, worked together, and got it done."

The support that was shown from the golfer's social networks was amazing. So many people stepped up in amazing ways. One of the best stories of support was of one of the golfers, Mark Glazier.

Mark heard about 100 Holes of HOPE and contacted SHG through the web site. He filled out the form and said that he would like to be involved however he could. Coincidentally one of the original 18 golfers had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict. This was only with about 2 weeks to go before the event. SHG contacted Mark to see if he would be interested in being one of the golfers and he jumped on board enthusiastically. He had a serious disadvantage in the fundraising race since he joined up so late in the game, but that didn't slow him down a bit. Mark ended up raising over $700 in about a week and a half!! Everyone was so pumped about his involvement and were thrilled when he received the "Show HOPE" award at the end of the day.

As if the generosity of all the sponsors wasn't enough, the Lord provided an absolutely beautiful day to play golf. The golfers arrived at the course a little before 8:00 and it was a brisk 42 degrees. However the sun quickly rose high enough to take the chill off and it turned into a perfect day with a cloudless sky.

SHG had so much help and support from so many sources. The Hawthorns Golf & Country Club worked hard to make the day a success. Steak n' Shake donated a yummy boxed lunch. Fifth Third Bank allowed donation boxes to be placed on their teller counter. Apple Family Farm was a big sponsor and plugged the event on blogs and social events. So many more helped in major ways and the sense of teamwork was palatable.

Show HOPE Golf thanks all those who donated and prayed for 100 Holes of HOPE. Through the generosity of so many the lives of many children will be impacted in the best way possible - their hope of a forever family is now a reality because of you!
